Why is it important to clean your Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions are an enhancement of the natural eyelash and make your natural eyelashes appear longer and fuller. This eliminates the need for your everyday routine of applying mascara/ false lashes or even just curling them. We apply, using a 1-1 technique, a false lash, or fan of lashes, to each of your healthy natural lashes.
However, they do require maintenance which is essential for eye health including the prevention of eye infections, damage of the natural eyelashes and the longevity of your eyelash extensions which should be anywhere between 2-4 weeks. For the first 24 hours it is important to avoid getting the extensions wet or moist as this can break down the bonds of the glue and cause them to fall off.
However after those 24 hours, residue of oils, make-up and dirt will begin to build up and this is when it is time for your lash cleanse. Frequency of lash cleansing can vary due to different skin types as those with oily skin, oil can accumulate at the base of the extensions attracting dirt and weakening the adhesive. Also, environmental and lifestyle factors etc effect the retention of your extensions. This is if you live in a dusty place or have an active lifestyle such as exercising regularly, daily cleaning of your lash extensions is recommended.
Cleaning your lash extensions is particularly important if you have russian or hybrid eyelash extensions. When a fan of lashes is exposed to dirt or oils, the fan of lashes will close and cause your fluffy eyelash extensions to become heavy and fall out.
We at Be Beau with Grace recommend you clean your lashes as part of your daily routine.
