Builder in a Bottle is most commonly known as BIAB Nails as it was named by the Gel Bottle Inc. Since then, lots of Gel Brands have created their own version of the most popular nail treatment of 2024, Builder in the Bottle Gels. We have been doing BIABs in our Middleton salon for a while now, and it is without a doubt our most popular Nail Service. We have put together this information as we often get asked “What are BIAB Nails?” so let us tell you…

What are BIAB Nails?

BIAB nails are a strong and durable nail treatment that allows and promotes natural nail growth. With the product being stronger than traditional gel polish it allows you to grow your natural nails under the BIAB whilst having perfectly manicured nails for 3-4 weeks.

BIAB is best used to start your nail journey as an overlay on your natural nails, however they can be extended. We don’t recommend having long extensions due to the flexibility of the product, but if you snap one, you don’t need to shorten your set, we can simply extend the broken nail to match the rest. How long does it last?

Your BIAB Nails should last anything between 3-4 weeks, and you can keep them of for as long as you like. We recommend having regular infills every few weeks to keep your manicure looking fresh. To start your BIAB Journey we would say you would need to have regular appointments every few weeks for a couple of months to get some growth on your natural nails.

Will it damage my nails?

No it will not! It will actually help strengthen  your nails. BIAB is perfect for anyone who struggles to grow their nails, or for nail biters   If you leave all the work up to us, there will be no damage to your natural nails. However if you pick and pull at your BIABs you may cause some discomfort and superficial damage to the nail plate. Unlike Acrylics, there is less prep work on the nail bed so BIABs are definitely a gentler option for your nails.

How are they different to Gel Polish & Acrylics?

Gel polish is a great treatment for anyone who wants low maintenance nail treatment painted on your natural nails and set under a UV/LED Lamp. With little to no strength in the product it is essentially a longer lasting nail polish. Whereas Acrylic Nails are created by mixing a monomer liquid and powder together to build the and extend your nails, once set the Acrylic is hardened and is a stronger option for people who cannot or do not want to grow their nails. Perfect for holidays and occasions!

Builder in the Bottle (BIAB) is a perfect, in the middle, option for your nails. With it being stronger than traditional Gel Polish, but less harsh than acrylics you can have the joy of gorgeous nails with a shorter appointment times, stronger natural nails and a fresh manicure.
